Conditions of Entry

Entries will remain open until APRIL 20 2008 unless entry capacity is reached beforehand.

With field sizes strictly limited in all categories, it is recommended to ENTER EARLY.

Subject to entry numbers not being filled late entries may be taken.

I understand that participation in these cycling events involves riding on public roads. I am aware of the hazards involved, and I agree to obey the road rules of Victoria and the directions of all designated official personnel.

I/the child in my care has sufficient experience and competence to participate safely in these event(s) and I hereby release, exempt and indemnify Creative Event Group P/L (CEG), the Festival of Cycling management committee, the Victorian Government, 'Go for your life', Parks Victoria, all sponsors and all other persons involved in the organisation, from all action, proceedings, demands and claims whatsoever taken by any participation in the ride.

CEG reserves the right to refuse entry.

CEG reserves the right to alter or amend the route due to inclement weather and/or extreme heat and other operational needs prevailing at the time and these decisions are always made in the best interest of safety. Occasionally it may be necessary to alter or amend itineraries and other arrangements from those published.

CEG shall not be liable or responsible for any direct, indirect, consequential, or accidental damage, injury, loss, accident, delay or irregularity of any kind which may be occasioned by reason of any act or omission of any third party.

Without limiting the foregoing, CEG does not own or operate any third party suppliers of services.

CEG shall not be held responsible for any injury, death, loss or expense borne by the participant.

CEG strongly recommend all participants take out suitable cycle event insurance and private health cover to cover any unforeseen circumstances that may arise.

Persons under the age of16 participating in any of the Festival Events must be accompanied by or be under the supervision a nominated adult who is responsible for these persons throughout the event.

Persons participating in the Festival Events who are under the age of 18 must have the consent of their guardian/parent to be able to participate.

I agree to abide by any directions given by the Event Director, marshals, or any official event personnel.

I consent to the publication of any photographs taken of me during this event.

I consent to my address and contact details being added to any mailing lists used by Creative Event Group P/L. in line with accepted privacy policies.

I understand that events occasionally need to be cancelled and/or published information needs to change. Due to the complexity, costs and constraints associated with staging the festival events, should circumstances require cancellation of the event no provision can be made for a comparable event to be staged on the course. Consideration may be applied to entry to a future event.

Please note that the Cycling Festival events are staged under a traffic controlled and restricted traffic road management plan. Riders are advised that emergency traffic or other vehicles may require use of the road during the time frame of the event. Due care and diligence should be should be applied at all times during participation in the events.

Acceptance of these Conditions by either the Team Captain or Family Principal is deemed to be an acceptance of all Team or family members.

Timing Chip Return Bond

As a condition of my entry I agree to remit to CEG an amountof $30 in the event of a NON return of the timing chip device.

Terms and Conditions

Must be accepted by all competitors / participants. (For competitors / participants under 16, a parent or guardian must accept.)

Acceptance of these Conditions of Entry by a team captain or family principal is deemed to be acceptance of these conditions by all team or family members.

WARNING: This is a legal document that affects your rights

I agree to participate in this event on the following basis:

  1. I acknowledge that cycling involves the real risk of serious injury or even death from various causes including over exertion, equipment failure, dehydration, accidents with other competitors, spectators or road users, and course or weather conditions to name a few.
  2. I understand that I should not compete in this event unless I have trained appropriately and a medical practitioner has verified my physical condition.
  3. By competing, I accept all risks necessarily flowing from my participation that could result in loss of life or permanent injury. Accordingly, I release all people associated with the conduct of the event from, and will indemnify them against, all liability (including liability for their negligence) for all injury, loss or damage arising out of or connected with my participation in this event. For clarification, the people released include event organisers Creative Event Group P/L., promoters, sponsors, managers, government and public authorities, and all of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, contractors and volunteers including event medical and paramedical personnel. This release and indemnity continues forever and binds my heirs, executors, personal representatives and assigns.
  4. I consent to receiving any medical treatment that event organisers think desirable during or after the event.
  5. I acknowledge and consent to photographs and electronic images being taken of me before, during, or after the event by an official representative of the event organiser. I acknowledge and agree that such photographs and electronic images are owned by the event organiser and that the event organiser and event sponsors may use the images, my name and my performance for promotional or other purposes at any time, by any form of media without my further consent being necessary. The event organiser is not responsible for photographs and electronic images taken by persons who are not an official representative of the event organiser.
  6. I understand that the insurance cover affected for participants in this event may not cover me for all injury, loss or damage sustained by me.
  7. Safety precautions undertaken by organisers (such as course supervision, event safety briefings, bicycle and helmet safety checks) are a service to me and other competitors but are not a guarantee of safety.
  8. I am fully responsible for the security of my personal possessions at the event.
  9. My registration is not transferable to other people, if I am unable to take part.
  10. I have entered details of any medical or physical conditions from which I suffer that might affect my performance or be relevant if medical treatment is needed.
  11. I agree to abide by all event regulations and directions issued by the event organiser.
  12. I certify that I am 18 years of age or older and I have read this document and fully understand it.
  13. I certify that being under the age of 18 I have the consent of a guardian/parent to be able to participate
  14. I certify I will receive an event briefing prior to the event that I will abide by.
  15. I agree that if the event is cancelled due to storm, rain, inclement weather, winds or other ‘Act of God’ conditions or safety concerns, or if I do not participate in the event for any other reason, my entry fee shall be non refundable.
  16. I acknowledge the event timing band remains the property of the timing company. Should I not return my timing band to the designated representatives I accept that I am liable for a (loss) Fee of $30.
  17. Event organisers may change the event format, course or other event conditions at their discretion. If that occurs, this agreement applies to the changed conditions
