Events & Demo's & Learn to Skate.

To encompass as many "wheel" sports as possible within the Festival framework, Skate Victoria wil be conducting a number of Speed Skating events on the main pit straight of the Albert Park circuit, within the afternoon events programme.

Feature Event: ‘Bayside Blades 500’ Invitational:

Bayside Blades

The ‘Bayside Blades 500’ invitational handicap Speed Skating event, will be held over a 500 mts course on Pit Straight. Heats and final will be conducted on Pit Straight, featuring Australia’s top skaters including current Junior World 200m Champion, Daniel Greig, plus Senior Worlds medallist Michael Byrne and five other members of the 2007 Australian Team.

  • Fast and furious action from some of the world's top skaters.
  • Other Skate Victoria activities and events will be conducted throughout the festival.
  • Ramp skate demo by Shane Yost, currently ranked number two in the world.
  • Slalom: see some amazing skating through cones by John Stanning, Australia’s best Slalom skater.

Learn to Skate: ‘come and try’ FREE recreational skating instructionand lesons conducted by qualified instructors from Bayside Blades, in a controlled "learn to skate' park.
